life or luck: live from philly by K.A.
Elijah "Eli" Anderson is one of many teenagers dealing with the chaotic turmoil of gun violence in North Philadelphia. Throughout Eli's battle for survival, life for him and his peers is being documented in real time by the media, viewing his community as savages. However, Eli flips the script and humanizes the experience by self assessing the reality in terms of what it's like growing up in such a gun riddled environment. Throughout the documentation of his journey, Eli finds himself in internal conflict with his conscience as he goes back and forth with an angel and devil assessing how he should live and survive within his community. Should he retaliate against those that have caused misfortune within his life? Or should he just accept his circumstances as is while determined to change his course of trajectory? These are the questions that drive every choice he as well as his peers make in one of America's most contested inner cities.
