But what they don't seem to understand is that I'm only like this because my parents worked hard. My Dad (God Rest His Soul) sacrificed his entire life just so that I could have one. Therefore, I must do something profound. Not because it sounds good or anything but because it would be a travesty for me to squander the opportunity I received to make something of myself in this country. Seriously though, had my parents never gave up all that they knew, I would have grown up up trying to survive and make a way in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. These days I find myself often thinking about that."
